| Designer Tom B. had to follow strict racing class rules for a very low center of gravity, a limited range of angle, and low weight, in addition to continual exposure to salt water and various types of disability.
The final challenge focused on application usability without too much customization. Tom says, "It had to be made quickly and easily with off-the-shelf components and be extremely rugged." Welded steel was eliminated, because the application needed to be easily reconfigured and repaired.
He opted for the HT Series 9701 Square Tube profile with holes. Tom says he chose 80/20's HT Series because of the "durability, light weight and the infinitely variable nature of the system and its components." |
